What is your pets name, breed and age?
Beagle cross Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog
These are the details we were provided with by RSPCA QLD
How would you describe their personality?
Do they have a favorite treat or toy?
It has got to be my green ball!!! My favourite aunty bought it for me and it is seriously tough stuff not even I can destroy it. It’s a favourite at the dog park and has even survived a 20min tug of war session with another dog.
What is their best trick?
360 spins are my speciality both on command and during some intense zoomie sessions. On command I do one at a time heavily rewarded with treats at the end. During my zoomies I do about 4 in a row very quickly!!!
Any advice to someone looking at getting a pet of a similar breed?
My husband and I both did a lot of research on both beagles and catahoulas before we chose to adopt Amos.
We really didn’t know too much about Amos apart from his previous owner had called him Chaos and he had never been taught anything. Luckily the RSPCA QLD changed his name to Amos and we chose to stick with it.
Amos needs someone who can be with him to train him and give him love. Whilst he is extremely energetic he is also a creature of comforts and loves being at home indoors with company. Amos is not the dog for you if you work Monday – Friday 9-5pm. He will get lonely and try escape and or destroy your house!!!
Amos is exercised twice a day and we do a lot of enrichment and mental training with him and enlist the help of a private trainer.
It is always a gamble getting a rescue dog however we are so grateful that we could give Amos the life he deserves. We would do anything for him and we love him more than we ever thought was possible.
